Vidya Balan as Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture
Amongst great controversy and mixed reactions on the film The Dirty Picture, it is Tusshar Kapoor who has stood firm on the belief that Vidya Balan fits her character brilliantly. He is of the notion that Vidya has everything that makes her apt for the role of Silk Smitha.
An excited Tusshar Kapoor, who has displayed some good acting talents in his recent films, is one of the actors in the film “The Dirty Picture”, a home production directed by Milan Luthria. He will be seen romancing Vidya Balan, who is playing the role of Silk Smitha, the famous sex siren from the south who dazzled the screens with her sensuous dance numbers.
Tusshar plays a film writer in the movie and has Naseeruddin Shah and Emraan Hashmi as co-stars. Along with Dirty Picture, Tusshar is also working on the sequel of “Kya Kool Hain Hum”, a hit film from 2005. Here he is playing the role of a struggling actor and he is also doing a seduction scene in the film. However, he is depending a lot on the success of Dirty Picture, as it will work in his favour if it does well at the box office.
He is completely supportive of Vidya Balan playing the role of Silk Smitha and fully disagrees with those who believe that Vidya Balan does not fit the character in any way. He says that after they have seen the movie, all those who were doubtful about Vidya managing to take it off, will chew back on their words. She has worked hard to bring on the desired look and Tusshar is all praise for her.
For Vidya, this bold and provocative movie is a great challenge, as the role is totally different from what she has ever played until date. We will be seeing her in a totally unbelievable avatar, a sensuous and sexy Vidya that we have never seen before.
Silk Smitha was the sexy danseuse from the south who shot to fame with her sensuous gyrations and great sex appeal that were welcomed with whistles and hoots resounding in theatres where her films were released.
To play someone as overpowering as her, Vidya Balan has really worked hard on her character to bring on the same sizzle that Silk Smitha did two decades ago.
Vidya is all set to prove all those wrong, who are skeptical of her playing the role, for they believe that the two actresses have nothing in common. While the dusky large-eyed Silk Smitha was tall and had sexy legs to show off, Vidya is completely different with wheatish skin color, small eyes and a relatively short height.
However, looking at the freshly released promos, Vidya is all set to have her skeptics eat their words. She is going to bring on the same oomph to her character as is relevant and going by Tusshar’s words and what we have seen in the promos thus far, Vidya will certainly rock the screen!
