Contrary to her previous movies as a homely-looking girl, Vidya Balan has stunned all movie fanatics with her sensuousness, which oozes as naturally as her acting talent in this highly controversial film.

Controversy has been rife ever since it was announced that Vidya Balan would be playing the character of Silk Smitha, a sizzling sex siren from the south, who not only picked up fame overnight down south, but turned out to be quite popular in Bollywood as well.
While some believed that Vidya Balan was far from anything Silk Smitha, both in looks and sex appeal, others were sure she would be able to pull off the role well. The short, wheat-complexioned and simple-looking Vidya seemed simply no match for the tall, dusky and voluptuous Silk Smitha, who had millions of men breathing heavily the moment she appeared on the screen.
Surprisingly, Vidya Balan has proved all her skeptics wrong. The recently launched 1 minute 30 seconds video trailer on YouTube, with Vidya looking as hot as Silk Smitha herself, has definitely put an end to all the criticism about her not fitting the role well.
In the teaser, we see a complete role-reversal as Vidya gyrates to raunchy numbers with cleavage revealing blouses clearly displaying the provocative chest thumping, which was popular in those days. This sizzling video has certainly amazed not only those who were supportive of Vidya Balan playing the role, but also left her critics awe-struck and appreciative of how she has made herself fit the role she is playing.
In less than a week, more than 1 lakh viewers have seen this trailer and all they can say after watching it is, ooh, la, laa. Unbelievable it may be, but Vidya Balan has done everything to bring alive the sizzling hot Silk Smitha back on screen, just the way the southern actress had wowed her fans two decades ago.
Quoting Sonam Kapoor in twitter after she had taken a peek at the YouTube teaser, “Vidya I bow down to you. You look unbelievably bold and provocative. Brilliant.”
Again, there have been mixed reactions to the trailer. While some are highly appreciative of Vidya’s extremely sexy avatar, there are the conservative types who do not completely like her voluptuous image as displayed on the trailer.
Those who like her in the trailer think that Vidya looks hot but not vulgar and carries it off just the way it was in that era when a stimulating display of skin was greatly popular. Vidya has also shown another side of her talent that probably all of us were oblivious of until now.
For those who cannot digest this show of Vidya’s talent, the characterization seems a little too candid.
All in all, Dirty Picture, directed by Milan Luthria under Ekta Kapoor’s production, although ridden with a lot of controversies, is a much-awaited movie that is due for release on December 2 to coincide with Silk Smitha’s birthday.
