Sexy Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture
There has been a tremendous response to the minute and a half teaser of The Dirty Picture released on YouTube last week, as people have gone wide-eyed with disbelief at Vidya’s almost perfect portrayal of Silk Smitha in the upcoming biopic.
When people had first heard of The Dirty Picture, a film that would be directed by Milan Luthria and produced by our reigning soap queen Ekta Kapoor, with Vidya Balan playing Silk Smitha, the news was met with mixed reactions. There had been more skeptical views than optimistic, as few were of the notion that Vidya could carry this off well.
Vidya was in no way a look alike nor did she have that kind of sensuality that Silk Smitha presented onscreen. However, to the surprise of all those cynical of her doing the role, this short teaser has put an end to all controversies.
One look at the trailer and you will be all ooh la laa. Vidya looks unbelievably stunning and her sensuous gyrations, sexy pout and chest-thumping moves will simply blow you off your feet.
Resemblance or not, Vidya has perfected her role to meet the electrifying effect that Silk created in her scenes, wooing people with her sexy body moves and semi-nude clothing.
Seeing the incredible reactions to this short trailer, Ekta Kapoor has decided to launch another trailer very soon in order to keep the curiosity growing until the release of the film.
Work has already begun on the second trailer, which Ekta promises will be even steamier than the first.
Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah in The Dirty Picture
Choreographer Pony Verma is exulted with the fact that her very first song picturization on Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah from where a lot of the shots were taken up for the trailer has been received with such great appreciation.
The song, which summarizes the chartbusters of the 80’s, has Naseeruddin Shah, whose character has been created by combining two great stars, MGR and Kamalhaasan, dance along with Vidya Balan as Silk Smitha.
Naseer sahab, as the choreographer reminisces, rehearsed his dance steps for more than two months and he never complained one bit when retake after retake had to be taken to perfect the shot.
For Verma, who had sat and watched most of the Bollywood movies of the 80’s to get the perfect effect, choreographing for this film has been a great challenge and something different from what she has done until now.
She is full of admiration for Vidya with whom she had first worked in Bhool Bhulaiya for the famous song “Ami je tomaar”. However, that was a classical dance performance, totally different from what Vidya is doing in the Dirty picture.
Vidya has managed to sway her body in a sensual manner to the sexy beats of the songs that take you back a generation to that very era when such numbers were a great craze among filmgoers.
The sex siren Silk Smitha had created this onscreen magic both in the south and the north and we can say with definite stance that Vidya has lived up to that image.
